Australian Property Institute

API professional property practitioners

All API members must abide by the Institute’s Code of Ethic and Rules of Conduct and it is fitting that these two documents lead the manual.

API and PINZ are members of the International Valuation Standards Committee (IVSC), a worldwide body of professional property experts who issue International Valuation Standards (IVS), Applications and Guidance Notes.  This edition of the Australian and New Zealand Valuation and Property Standards represents a further stage towards the harmonisation of valuation and property standards within Australia and New Zealand and reflects the continued move towards IVS.

API and PINZ have prepared, and updated where necessary, their own Standards and Guidance Notes specific to the two Institutes covering aspects such as valuation procedures, partial interests, rating and taxing, valuations for compulsory acquisition, insurance valuations, preparation of reports for mortgage purposes, method of measurement, feasibility studies etc.

Disclaimer clauses and qualification statements are discussed and suggested report content topics are outlined. Members involved with due diligence investigations and with contaminated land matters benefit from Guidance Notes on these subjects.

It is expected that the universal web-site availability of the Australia and New Zealand Valuation and Property Standards manual will enhance API member’s use of its contents and applications, as clients gain a better understanding of the role of a property professional and become more specific in their instructions to API members.
